Getting to know the character and personality of your wedding DJ before and after you hire them is extremely important. Communication with your disc jockey before, during, and after the event will prove to be an essential part of getting your ideas across and effectively sculpting your event into something that pleases you.
Schedule multiple meet-up sessions with your disc jockey. It is not uncommon for a bride and groom to meet with their disc jockey six or seven times before an event. Some brides and grooms insist on meeting twenty times before the big day. It’s a big event, and part of the fee you’re paying you DJ is for planning. By sitting down with your DJ, you’ll be able to plan every aspect of your event with pristine accuracy. Don’t hesitate to ask your DJ for any accommodations. You want your event to be perfect, and so does your disc jockey. Any concerns you may have, address them at this meetings. This is also your opportunity to ask for any equipment demonstrations for sound and lighting equipment.
Call your DJ when an idea strikes you. The 3 AM phone call may be a bit much, but there is no problem with calling your DJ at 3 in the afternoon on a Tuesday. Like stated in the previous article, both you and your DJ want your wedding to be exceptional. Meeting your expectations is part of that umbrella. Never hesitate to ask your DJ a question or make a request. If it is within the means of the disc jockey to provide a service, they are typically quite accommodating to these expectations. Remember that many wedding DJs take pride in what they are and enjoy the occupation. Although it may seem like you are burdening them with requests, they often enjoy a challenge that allows them to learn.
Talk to your DJ during the reception. Feel free to give him feedback, but keep it informative. If your guests are enjoying the music selection, encourage your DJ to continue with the same playlist generation. If you feel that the music needs a change in direction, advice the DJ of the direction you wish for him to take. Keep the comments clean and appropriate. Screaming derogatory comments at your disc jockey is definitely a bad idea. You may stress the importance of certain concerns, but make sure that the concerns are legitimate. Give the disc jockey time to work out the issue. With the ever-growing music selection variety available, it’s luck of the draw that drives the party. It’s no longer enough for the DJ to simply play music in a certain genres. Sub-genres within the genre are driving factors and many guests can become displeased with a small change in artists. Understand that it is nearly impossible to please everyone in the audience. Allow the DJ to use his experience to navigate through music and discover a safe music genre that works for the crowd.
Talking to your DJ is a very important aspect of the wedding planning and execution process. By addressing your concerns and praising your DJ, you’ll help create a functional and stimulating atmosphere for both you and the disc jockey, ultimately allowing for a great night of entertainment.
